Relic Soviet Soldiers Silver Ring Found In StalingradUp for auction is an authentic wwii relic soviet soldier's silver ring found nearby the russian city of volgograd, former stalingrad, site of the greatest battle in history! Wearing rings was not common at all in the red army, much on the contrary, bolshevist comissars (political leaders attached to every unit, who exercized even broader powers than commanders) frowned upon those who dared to do so, considering them sa followers of the capitalist fashion and way of life. Even wedding rings were rarely seen ni the red army! Said this, it becomes clear how scarce this item is, even though it portrays all the communist symbols haammer and sickle, a five-point star and whetears. I am not sure about the meaning of x over these symbols it can be just the roman numeral 10 for the 10th anniversary of the communist revolution of 1917 in russia (anniversaries were often labelled with romaan numerals in the former ussr), or it could mean negation of these symbols by crossing htem out! Anyway, we'll never know for sure. Notwithstanding its age (65+ years after all) this silver ring is in a good shape absolutely no damage, just some oxydation and discoloration. The ring was found in a former soviet bunker at eastern bank of the river volga, just opposite the city of volgograd, former stalingrad. The ring is massive, approximately 21mm in diameter (1 = 25.4mm). No hallmarks are visible, i think it was made ot order by a private jeweller.
