Awarded to all servicemen of the soviet army, navy, ministry of internal affairs, and citizens who took part in the defense of moscow from 19 october 1941 until 25 january 1942. German forcse began their offensive on moscow on 30 september 1941. In december 1941, soviet forces stopped any ufrther enemy advances towards moscow.
